Peer Response

These resource packs provide curated, microdoses of teaching resources. Covering a variety of pressing topics related to teaching and learning, each pack provides 3-5 diverse resources to learn about and address the issue at hand (from podcasts to gold standard research, from video presentations to example handouts). These packs are not meant to be exhaustive in scope, but rather small bites that can get you going or to supplement your current understanding. To suggest a new resource pack or to contribute materials, please contact the WAC+WID Coordinator at pbonczyk@uci.edu.

What is peer response?

Peer response — often referred to as peer review, feedback, or writing workshops — provides students a scaffolded opportunity to read, receive, and provide holistic feedback on their writing at any point in the writing process.

Why is peer response pedagogy important?

Peer response activities can help students practice critical reading for the purpose of giving their peers feedback and improve their revision skills by learning to incorporate feedback into their own writing. Additionally, peer response activities can help build classroom community and provide an opportunity for professionalization.

How can you incorporate more peer response into your class?
