Spring Quarter '24 Lunchtime Discussion: Voice, Agency and Style in the Age of AI

Tuesday, May 7, 2024

12:00 pm–1:15 pm

HIB 135

Lunch will be provided for registered attendees

This lunchtime event starts with Daniel M. Gross (English) in a structured conversation with Patrick Hong (Engineering). Then it opens up you all – UCI folks from across campus – who can think ahead of time about these three questions:

1) “How does voice, agency, and/or style work in your field?”
2) “How has generative AI shed new light on this question?”
3) “Some teach that voice, agency, and style are irrelevant to scientific and technical writing unless communicating with nonexperts. Do you have an example of how any these things are important in even the most technical writing?”
If you have a concise example that you can share ahead of time, please email it to Daniel M. Gross at dgross@uci.edu for the slide deck.
